Gegar Press Release
2024-06-24

On the 25th of June, the police summoned three Gegar activists for questioning under Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act at IPD Dang Wangi, following weeks of intimidation and harassment. As our freedoms continue to backslide under a growingly authoritarian government, the state intimidates those protesting the murderous zionist regime and its imperialist allies.

Gegar extends its gratitude to everyone who joined us in solidarity, including those who helped spread the word. We also extend special thanks to Lawyers for Liberty (@LawyersForLiberty), Amnesty (@Amnesty_My), and SUARAM (@Insta_SUARAM) for their unrelenting and steadfast support against state repression.

Without the support of the broader masses, the movement would not be where it is now. We need more ordinary people like you to continue growing our movement. Solidarity among the working class remains crucial in resisting global imperialism.

It is clear today that the western imperialist system and its colonial collaborators are international oppressors. Wherever we strike it, we serve the world revolution.

This is therefore not the first action nor will it be the last - we will continue to escalate for Palestinian liberation, from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.

Efforts from the state to suppress working class power is futile. Instead of targeting activists, the state must walk the talk: withdraw from RIMPAC, stop intimidating the Malaysian resistance and reject the U.S. empire!
